Tent Peak/ Tharpu Chuli with Poon Hill trekking starts with an overland and interesting drive beyond Kathmandu valley to reach a scenic and most popular touristic spot in Pokhara, an amazing place nestled on the laps of Annapurna Himalaya and pristine lakes of Phewa and Begnas with a great vista of mountains including the majestic Mt. Machapuchare ‘Fish Tail’ that dominates the Pokhara valley.

After Pokhara a short drive to the trekking starting point at Nayapul / Bhirethati located by the Modi River, beginning the trek with slow and gradual uphill passing several nice villages Hille and Tirkhedhunga, and then a steep haul on stone steps to Ulleri village, after Ulleri a pleasant walk with few short climbs reaching at Ghorepani located on the base of Pun Hill at a 2,867 meters high with wonderful views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Nilgiris and Annapurna South, a beautiful village surrounded with snow-capped mountains and green forest of rhododendron and firs.

The next morning before breakfast hikes up to Poon Hill the highlight of this trek, is the walk leads uphill through enchanting woodlands, and then at Poon Hill marvel the excellent panorama of mountains with striking sunrise.

Pun Hill at the height of 3,190 meters offers an awesome panorama of the world’s highest mountain range from the 7th highest Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167 m / 26,795 ft), 10th highest Annapurna I (8,091m / 26,545ft) Annapurna South (7,219m-23,693ft), Gangapurna (7,455m-24,457ft) and Annapurna III (7,555m-24,787ft), including to Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fish-tail) at 6,997 m stretching towards 
8th Mt. Manaslu (8,163 m) and adjoining peaks across the horizon along with whale-shaped Lamjung Himal at 6, 931 meters high.

From here our next adventure leads towards Annapurna base camp and its picturesque sanctuary, as the walk leads past Tadapani, Chomrong, and Machapuchare base camp, finally reaching Annapurna base camp at 4,095 meters the highest spot of this fabulous trek, where you will be encircled with massive Annapurna Himalayan peaks at close distance.

After ABC our main adventure leads by Annapurna I, Gangapurna glacier to set up camps for the safe climb to Tent Peak summit, the climb is straightforward with few technical sections, crampons, and ice axe are necessary for the entire climb even up to high camp. 

Tent Peak / Tharpu-Chuli Climb rated PD + ( Peu Difficile / with some technical difficulty and walking on glaciers) the grade as per the Swiss / French Alpine System which is widely used the world over.

Mt. Annapurna’s I, II, III, and IV, Gangapurna, Glacier Dome as far to 
Mt. Dhaulagiri, Tilicho, and Manaslu and mountain ranges in the distance. 

After an overwhelming time at the summit of Tent Peak / Tharpu-Chuli at 5,663 meters high and the sanctuary, then headed back to Pokhara via an alternative route passing through scenic hills, beautiful forest, Jhinu Danda, Landruk, Tolka villages, and then a short drive to picturesque Pokhara for overnight after completing a grand super adventure climb of Tent Peak / Tharpu-Chuli & Annapurna Base Camp with Poon Hill Trek, and great service of Sherpa Nomads and its friendly guides and porters.

Daily super views of Annapurna Himalaya & Mt. Machapuchare (Fish Tail) with amazing landscapes, a country walk visiting traditional mid hills villages, old culture, and custom, friendly locals, warm hospitality, an enchanting alpine forest of rhododendron, oaks, birch and pine trees, striking sunrise over the chain of the Himalayan mountain range, in the heart of Annapurna massive Himalaya at base camp within picturesque sanctuary with the classic climb of Tent Peak /Tharpu Chuli.

On reaching Kathmandu international airport, received by Sherpa Nomads staff and transfer to the respective hotel in the hub of Kathmandu, and then briefing/orientation program regarding Kathmandu, Pokhara, and trek/ climb.

The morning after breakfast our city tour guide will take you on a half-day tour at places of interest around interesting old temples, monasteries, and palaces, Kathmandu is full of World Heritage Sites, and the afternoon is free and preparation for the trek and climb to Tent Peak /Tharpu Chuli & Annapurna base camp.

Depending upon your choices either take a short scenic flight or drive to Pokhara which takes 6 hours of interesting drive, on reaching Pokhara transfer to respective hotels by lake Phewa.

Morning a 2 hrs drive past Pokhara valley with super views of Annapurna Himalaya and Mt. Machapuchare and leading past interesting mid hills villages, on reaching at Nayapul or Bhirethati located by the River Modi, start the trek on the gradual uphill in this warm area to reach Tirkhedhunga village with wonderful cascading waterfalls, overnight in the lodge with afternoon free at leisure for short walks.

Today a tough day of this trek as it leads to an uphill with stone steps to reach the village of Ulleri inhabited by Gurung tribe, after a walk uphill for few hours then it gets pleasant with gradual path through the beautiful rhododendron, oaks and pines trees reaching at Ghorepani as the air gets cooler with alpine climate, with super views of Dhaulagiri range with Nilgiris, Annapurna Fang / Vara Shikar and Annapurna South, overnight in a nice cozy lodge with views of the mountains.

Early morning an hour hike to Poon Hill to catch the sunrise over the Himalayan chain of peaks, walk leads uphill through nice forest setting with alluring scenery, on reaching at Poon Hill with time to marvel the sunrise over array of snow clad mountains. After a fantastic time on top of Poon Hill the highest point of this trek head down to Ghorepani for breakfast and continue the trek to Tadapani with a scenic climb to Deurali and downhill with a short up to Tadapani after 5-6 hours of interesting scenic trek.

From Tadapani walk leads downhill through enchanting forest of rhododendron, pines and oaks tree lines and then reaching a small village of Ghurjong near Kimrong river valley, from here a steep uphill for few hours all the way to the top of Chomrong village, a short downhill walk to the overnight stop at Chomrong village, this is the last permanent Gurung village and the gateway to Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp trekking.

After Chomrong today’s walk leads to a short downhill over the terraced farm fields and to the Chomrong river, after crossing the bridge an uphill for an hour to Sinuwa Danda a small spot with few lodges offering great views of the surrounding landscapes and rolling green hills, from this place walking through cool dense forest till a place called Bamboo is reached, located by the Modi River in the middle of bamboo, rhododendron and oaks forest. From here an hour's walk on the gradual up trail to Dovan for an overnight stop, situated in the middle of the forest Modi River gorge.

From here onwards the air gets cooler and fresher entering towards the Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp, walk leads on the gradual winding path with gentle ups to Himalaya Hotel near the Hinko Cave, right beneath of Huinchuli peak. From here walking on the glacier and moraine in the old avalanche area, after crossing a small bridge near at Deurali the last lodge before Machhapuchhre Base Camp, from here further vegetation and tree lines disappears with only high alpine bushes and shrubs, our route climbs following the Modi river upstream, the walk gets pleasant in some places then with steep up reaching at Maccahapuchare Base Camp for overnight stay. This place with four lodges located on the bottom of Mt. Maccahapuchare North Face, from here onwards within the Annapurna Sanctuary.

After a wonderful morning overlooking views of the Annapurna mountain range, from here a short walk to the base camp, a morning walk on the grassy uphill slopes then reaching higher almost level ground near Annapurna Base Camp, a morning walk with stunning views of close Annapurna peaks that circles the sanctuary facing Annapurna I. After a good scenic walk reaching Annapurna Base Camp a magnificent spot with about three large lodges at present, offering tremendous awesome scenery of snow-capped peaks that encircle this lovely spot at base camp, afternoon at leisure to enjoy the mountain views.

Morning heading towards our main highlight and destination for the climb of Tent Peak, as the peak looking from the sanctuary and base camp certainly looks like a rocky tent with little snow on the top, due to its sheer rocky and ice slopes, this peak as well called Tharpu Chuli by the locals. The walk leads towards the Annapurna glacier and heading with a climb over a snow-covered moraine rocky path, and climb on an icy trail for few hours to Tent peak base camp, first night in tents with camping facilities of cook, kitchen staff, and guides, afternoon relax and enjoy the views with time to prepare for the next day climb of Tent peak.

It is always best to have one more extra camps, as this peak is quite technical although it is not a 6,000 meters high, but tough to tackle this peak, morning walk towards more rocky and glacier, and then a few short up to reach a small clearing beneath the towering Tent peak, after setting the camp to join our expert guide to inspect the route of climb for neat early morning climb.

A Big Day! Our main target and destination starting before the crack of dawn as the climb leads over moraine and rubble of ice falls, following the route set by our lead guide reaching high above on an ill defined ridge towards last snow slope, most of the climb involves walking roped together, including the glacial crossings. As everyone should be fit and have good attitude on this climb as it leads to a quite steep rock and ice ridge, with some technical sections on route to Tent Peak summit, after a final big haul with great help and support of our expert guide. On reaching the summit take a rest and admire the beautiful panorama of whole Annapurna Mountains and towards north and west Chulu range with Dhaulagiri peaks as well view of Manaslu towards the east horizon, after a great moment in the highest spot of this adventure descent by the same route to base camp.

A spare or contingency / reserve day in case of bad unusual weather situations, an important to have extra day which helps to maintain the itinerary days and for safe climb, if all goes well as per the designated itinerary days our guide will make the decision after informing all, how and where this spare can be used before or after Chomrong on route Pokhara.

After a wonderful time on the summit of Tent / Tharpu Chuli and feeling high with great experience of a life time, an easy walk through moraine, ice and glaciers criss crossing smaller streams and then a last climb back to Annapurna base camp in the comfort of a cozy nice lodge, with afternoon free to relax and marvel the beautiful snow peaks that surround this place.

After a grand time at Annapurna Sanctuary and base camp, a morning walk on the downhill path all the way to Deurali, then with a few ups and downs with the gradual winding trail in the serene forest and back to the tree lines to Bamboo for the overnight stay.

From here a short steep up to Khuldi Ghar, then on the winding downhill path through the dense forest to Sinuwa danda, from here walk descends to Chomrong khola. After the bridge an uphill walk for less than an hour reaching at Chomrong village for rest stop or lunch, after Chomrong with another up for half hour to the top of Chomrong ridge, then our route descends to Jhinu danda, for an overnight stay, the place offers refreshing hot springs just 20 minutes walk downhill near Modi river.

Today the walk is interesting with an hour downhill towards Modi River, after crossing the bridge an uphill for short while to Landruk village with great views of Annapurna South and Huinchuli, from here walk gets pleasant on the winding path with the last climb to Deurali top with super views of snow-capped peaks, after a nice break heading down to Potana village with magnificent views of Annapurna and Manaslu range of mountains with majestic Machapuchare peak.

Last day of this fabulous trekking, as the walk leads into serene cool forest to reach at Thulo Kharka a large pasture, this scenic place is also known as Australian Camp offering tremendous views of Annapurna Himalaya, from here an hour descend to the road head at Kande for a short drive back to picturesque Pokhara and check into the hotel by the lake Phewa, afternoon free at leisure for individual activities.

Another option at Pokhara either fly or take an interesting six hours of scenic overland drive to Kathmandu.

On your last day in Kathmandu as per your international flight time, our Sherpa Nomads staff will transfer you to the airport for the flight homeward bound after a remarkable life time experience in the mid-hill of Annapurna Himalaya and climb of Tent Peak with excellent service of Sherpa Nomads.
